Adults Only Getaway

Brian and I were lucky enough to have a mini vacation last week, although it wasn't all fun for Brian.  He attended a conference for the first half of the day and had his afternoons/evenings free.  But we had a blast.  We were down at Amelia Island (near Jacksonville).  What a beautiful resort! I personally enjoyed reading by the pool.  I haven't read a book since Harrison was born. (I am now finished with the 2nd Twilight series book!)   We took strolls along the beach, enjoyed nice dinners, and even went horseback riding on the shore.  

We are so thankful that my mom was able to take off work and fly out to spend the week with Harrison.  I think she had more fun here than we did down south!  She did witness a HUGE milestone that we have been waiting on for months.  You guessed it... he rolled over.  Little stinker.   While we missed him like crazy, we really enjoyed having a little time to ourselves.  Back to reality now...

Happy Easter!

Harrison is quite the spoiled boy.  He got overflowing Easter baskets from his grandparents, full of all sorts of fun things.  Here is the little guy opening Grandma and Grandpa Ludwig's basket.  And a little history behind the yellow bunny/wheelbarrow--this was Brian's basket when he was a kid.  How cute, huh?

Harrison's Easter basket from Gigi and Grandpa Guerrieri was sent all the way from Seattle.  He looks so interested in the packaging for his new bath toys.

"That's Not My Train"

While Harrison loves reading books about trains, ducks, and bunnies, he would rather be studying orthopedic surgery!  I ordered this bib way back when I first found out I was prego.   And believe me, Brian is already on the lookout for anatomy reading material for him!

We also just bought the oh-so-very-cool LeapFrog learning table.  I have heard great things about this table, so I figured we might as well have it, right?

He Sits!

Harrison has mastered sitting!  He loves seeing the world from an upright position.  We sit him up on a blanket in the living room with a bucket of toys in front of him, and he is just happy as a clam.  There are still the rare occasions where he will be face down on top of his toys, which is just hilarious to see.  Seeing as how he doesn't roll at all, he just lays there and grunts.  

Harrison LOVES bath time! He could stay in there for hours.  He'll chase his toys all over and chew on washcloths.   Surprisingly, he still fits in his infant tub.  

Dakota and Harrison are the best of friends.  And the more food Harrison drops on the floor, the better friends they become.   We were a little leery of how Dakota would act around a baby, but she is so gentle with him.  This picture is proof enough.

We were able to sneak away for an entire weekend to visit our friends, Corinne and Travis in Ames, Iowa.  We had a blast and really enjoyed catching up.  We are also big fans of their Wii and played Rock Band for a few hours (with a little help from some beverages!)  Brian is a rockin' guitarist! 

Cha-Cha-Changin'

Everyone said that so many changes take place once babies reach 6 months and true it is.  Everyday, it seems that Harrison is learning something new.

BUT what he won't do--ROLL OVER.  Although he is a "future Ivy League student" the kid will not even try to roll.  He uses his smarts in other ways.

What a chunk!

Harrison had his 6 month check-up and shots today.  22 pounds 8 ounces!  He is in the 98th percentile for weight and head circumference and the 93rd percentile for height.  So at least he is proportional.  Each time we are out with him, people can't help but comment on his size.  I will try to get a nakey photo that shows off his thunder thighs.  :)  

He is such a happy kid and doing so much.  It's so exciting to watch him discover the littlest things, like his feet or spoons.  These times seemed like an eternity away this time last year.

Jumping Bean

Super Chunk (with an ear infection)

So my poor, sweet babe is just miserable. He started Sunday night with cold symptoms and I was certain that Brian and I brought home RSV. But as the week wore on, he was getting sicker. Wheezes, snot galore and coughing... so to the clinic we went. No RSV, but he does have an ear infection. I keep telling Brian, who is lucky enough to be in Vegas at a conference, that Harrison looks like a kid who just crawled out of a trailer park. Yesterday (I should've taken a picture) he was wearing a shirt that had been stretched out with Amoxicillin all over it, he had been drooling so his face was red and chapped and he had dried crud on his nose. I am sure you can just imagine! Hopefully he will be on the mend soon. In other exciting news, Harrison has officially reached the weight limit for his infant carrier! He is a whopping 21 pounds, 8 ounces! He weighs more than your average 6 month old (more than a lot of kids!) Looks like I will be installing that convertible carseat sooner than I thought.

Jump!

Harrison has finally figured out how to "jump" in his Jumperoo and activity jumper.  It's hilarious to watch and I think it scares him that I get so excited.  He is watching everything around him, which makes feeding time interesting.  He usually has some veggie or fruit smeared across his face, up his nose, etc...  

He seems to be meeting all of his developmental milestones except that whole rolling over thing.  The kid just won't do it! I keep giving him the excuse that he's too fat, but I think he's just lazy.  We're working on it!

A couple of girlfriends from work and I got our babies together for a little playdate.  We had our babies about the same time, so it's always great hearing their stories and seeing what their kiddos are doing.  It's also encouraging to see that they have chub-a-lub babies, too!

Brian's Mini Me

Harrison definitely is his father's son.  The way we dress him is just how B likes to dress, right down to the Polo half-zip sweater.  I ordered the Ortho onesie when we found out Harrison was a boy.  He also will be sporting a "I'd rather be studying orthopedics" bib within the next few months.  :)  I was proud to find these treasures!  Brian is anxious to start teaching Harrison the names of all the bones.  Who needs the ABC's, when you've got femurs, scapulas, and patellas?

In other news, we finally have our house on the market.  If anyone is interested in a fant-abulous condo, we have a great one!  

Trips/Travels/Buds/Babies

Harrison and I had a great trip to Indianapolis.  The flights weren't too shabby and Harrison didn't cause too much of a ruckus.  I just cringed each time he started to fuss and of course I would get "the look" from nearby passengers.  Thankfully, on our trip back to Madison, there were extra seats and I was able to bring aboard his carseat, where he snoozed like an angel. We met little Griffin, who is just plain adorable.  He is a peanut and next to Harrison, he looks literally like a string bean!  We also had the opportunity to catch up with Micah Grace, who is growing like weed.  After spending an afternoon with Micah, who is 18 months, I am thankful that I still have some time where Harrison is containable and content.  The girls (Jen and Brit) took our 3 kiddos and had their pictures taken at a great photographer in Indianapolis.  They photos turned out gorgeous.  Check them out :  www.jamiesangarblog.com  You may have to scroll through a few pages to get to our shoot.

My mom was also in town, so I was able to sneak out with my girlfriends.  It felt so great to have a few drinks and be with the people who mean the world to me.  I have really missed my friends!  And of course, my mom had a fabulous time with Harrison! 

While home, I was also able to talk to my baby brother, Matthew, who is currently deployed.  He is in port in Bahrain now and was able to call.  He sounds like he's matured so much, which for those that know him, is a VERY good thing!  

Harrison is still sporting a mini mullet, but he's happy about it.  His gut continues to expand. He has yet to roll over and I wonder if he will.  When I put him on his belly, he flings his arms out to the side and screams.  He looks like a bug that's stuck on it's back.  It's quite hilarious.
